Lou Derr & Bootleg- Rockin’ Country Music

Lou Derr has been performing music for as long as he can remember starting out in the San Francisco bay area, Derr honed his guitar playing and started performing at the age of 14.
In 1979 Lou moved up to LakeCounty and played in several bands 90-Proof was a very popular band in the 80’s in and around LakeCounty. It wasn’t until 1986 that Lou decided it was time to get serious. He formed his own band Bootleg later to become Lou Derr & Bootleg. LD&B entered several Wrangler Star Searches and Marlboro Country Round-ups and was a popular act at the Saddle Rack in San Jose, Ca. Derr once rented a bus to take 80 of his friends and fans to The Saddle Rack for a great evening of Country Rock Music which Derr now has branded as “Rockin’ Country” Members have changed over the years and some have passed on. The CD “Santa Fe” has been released in it’s final edition to radio and web sites as collector CD in dedication to the players on the album that aren’t with us any longer such as Kelley Parker (Bass Guitar) , Rob Gertz (guitar) and Bobby Goodson (sax).
The New Lou Derr & Bootleg are still rockin’ it after a 10 year break.  Lou is presently writing new songs for his new CD “New Tracks”.  Lou has a fresh new band with old friends Charwin Ward on Drums, Mike Thompson on snarling Bass, Paul Kemp on Keyboards, Randy Hare on Guitar and Pat Ickes on Pedal Steel guitar. Who ever Lou has on stage with him, you can count on them being top notch Rockin’ Country players.” You will find the New Lou Derr & Bootleg performing Concerts in the Park, doing a Street Dance in Kelseyville or playing a Rodeo Dance. We are here to have fun and make the best music possible. Traveling with their new sound system and new members, Lou Derr & Bootleg are ready to ignite your party. Getting Ready for the 4th of July in Clearlake Gig...

Well it's Wednesday and we are gearing up for this Saturday's performance in Clearlake. It's only a short 40 min drive for me but I look forward to playing in Clearlake even though we probably only play there once or twice a year. But this 4th of July gig has turned out to be a really fun gig each year and we get more fans every year. Lots of old friends that have been followong my music for many years and a few new ones too. It gets my goat though that they don't advertise us actually performing like everyone else does when we play. The sound is a problen also due to the inadiquate electric they supply us for our band to plug in to. Most people do not realize how important it is to have a good grounded power source for the band, We draw quite a bit of power when we perform outside. A single dual outlet with a 20 amp circuit it not hardly enough. the PA amps will usually heat up and blow that right away. So I hope they have fixed the problem. In fact i am going to call Randy and make sure they give us at least 2 separate places to plug in to. At this point i am also trying to find a steel guitar player to perform with us next week in Redding or a fiddle player. i am opening a new club in Redding next week and Country nite is on Thursday so looks like we will be traveling to North every 4-5 weeks or so to play up there but thats ok we need more fans and more people downloading our songs. more about that in another post. hey feel free to join in on these posts or start your own, I'd like to relive some stories if you have any good ones. And i am sure the new fans we are getting from around the orld would like to read some things about us. hey gotta go for now...LOU
